August 24, 2005 -- Upland Sports Group Launches New Brand of Casual Apparel
OAKLAND, CA - Upland Sports Group, Inc. announced today the launch of Capoforma Apparel, a new brand of casual and cycling apparel. The 2006 line will include in-line and custom socks, tracksuits, wool and micro-fiber polo's and t-shirts, jerseys, bib shorts, and related cycling accessories. The entire line will be shown for the first time at InterBike, September 28-30 (Booth #859).

Upland Sports Group began to market the Capoforma brand on a grass roots level early in 2005, introducing a small collection of in-line and custom socks to retailers and cycling teams. In order to gain immediate exposure, Upland sponsored the McGuire-Langdale Professional Cycling Team for the 2005 season. Each member of the team was issued several pairs of the popular Euro Coolmax(R) socks along with Cordura shoe covers.

"We knew the quality of the product was second to none", said Gary Vasconi, President of Upland Sports Group. "Our initial production order was delivered in January of 2005, 30 days later we were calling our supplier to order more. Nearly every team and club we approached added custom socks to their Capoforma Custom order".

In the spring of 2005, it was decided that the Capoforma brand had unlimited market potential. Excited about the brand, retailers and teams were asking for other products, specifically more casual apparel, which could be worn before and after a cycling event or simply around town. Soon thereafter, Upland began to explore designs and identify suppliers to manufacture tracksuits, wool jerseys, and micro-fiber polo's and t-shirts. Cycling apparel would be offered as well to include wool jerseys and a full Capoforma team kit.

"The addition of Capoforma has already been tremendously successful", said Robert Carbone, Vice President of Upland Sports Group. "Ownership of the brand gives us 100% control from beginning to end. We can determine what the market needs, how to develop the product, and decide where and how it gets produced. The market potential is endless".

July, 2004 -- McCook on form winning Shorewood Criterium
SHOREWOOD, WI -- Dave McCook of the McGuire Pro Cycling Team repeated his day three performance at Superweek winning the Shorewood Criterium. The pace was very high on the fast course and a break of eight riders formed and stayed away to fight it out amongst themselves. In the break were Jonas Carney (Jelly Belly), Andrew Crater (Monex), Frank Dierking (ABD), Frank Pipp (Endeavour), Aaron Olsen (Colavita Olive Oil), McCook, David Fuentes (Morgan Stanley) and one of the Aussies from MGZT. After keeping the break away from a hard chasing peloton, the last lap caused a clash within the break and Fuentes and the Aussie both came out of it with a flat tire, leaving only six riders to sprint for the win. McCook took the sprint convincingly, from Carney with Crater finishing in third place.

July, 2004 -- McCook delivers at Superweek
MANTIWOC, WI -- Dave McCook of the McGuire Pro Cycling Team continued on his new found form to win the First National Bank Maritime Bay Classic #3 at the 2004 Superweek. With two laps to go, McCook jumped and took a $300 prime on the penultimate lap and then soloed for the final lap to take the easy victory.

"I timed it really well," he said. "Nobody was thinking that I would hold on after the prime but I really committed myself to it and it worked out."

June, 2004 -- McCook makes it a hat-trick at Nature Valley Grand Prix
MINNESOTA -- For the third day in a row, Dave McCook of the McGuire Pro Cycling Team used his power far from the finish to win the inaugural 80-mile Red Wing Road Race, the fourth stage of the Nature Valley Grand Prix. This time, though, it took more work, as a break of three - including Sierra Nevada's third-place GC contender Eric Wohlberg - challenged the peloton to catch them all the way to the finish.

May, 2004 -- Horner wins spectacular finale in Tour of Connecticut
HOUSATONIC, CT -- After laying low for the first four stages, Chris Horner took center stage at the 2004 Tour of Connecticut and scored a dramatic solo victory in the fifth and final stage.

Escaping just 25 miles into the 100 mile stage with Dominque Perras (Ofoto), Horner put his head down, gaining a maximum advantage of four-and-a-half minutes over the bunch. With Health Net Presented by Maxxis and Navigators chasing, Chris' lead dropped to just under 2 minutes at the 80 mile mark, when he began the first of 13 finishing circuits in downtown Danbury. Despite the furious chase from behind, Chris never let up, remaining unfazed when a freak afternoon thunderstorm blew in and soaked the course with a few laps to go.

May, 2004 -- Pic/Team atop NRC Standings
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- As the 2004 season approaches summer, the Genesis Scuba Women's Cycling Team has set itself apart from the competition. The latest USA Cycling standings have Genesis Scuba as the #1 team in North America by more than a 150-point margin over the next closest team, T-Mobile. Not only is Genesis atop the team standings, their own Tina Pic sits in first place in the individual standings as well. Laura Van Gilder (in 5th place) and Sue Palmer Komar (8th Place) give the Atlanta-based team three of the top 10 riders in the rankings - more than any other team.

April, 2004 -- Horner takes podium spot at Tour de Georgia
ALPHARETTA, GA -- After almost a full week of intense racing at the Dodge Tour de Georgia, Chris Horner and the Webcor Builders came home content with a third-placed finish in the second-year event. Standing atop the final podium with Lance Armstrong (USPS) and Jens Voight (CSC), Horner served notice, once again, that he is undoubtedly the strongest rider based in the US this season. After conceding a scant 45 seconds to Armstrong in the Stage 4 ITT in Rome, Horner bided his time in the next two mountain stages, waiting for the opportunity to test Armstrong's form. Despite his best efforts, Armstrong proved unflappable and matched Chris' efforts time and again, including an epic battle on the steep finishing climb to Brasstown Bald on Stage 6.

April, 2004 -- Horner takes overall at Sea Otter
MONTEREY, CA -- Heading into the final stage at the Sea Otter Classic, things looked a bit grim for the Webcor Builders team. But, as they have all season thus far, the team placed Chris Horner into position to launch yet another race altering attack.

Horner came into the day trailing Trent Klasna (Sierra Nevada) by 40", by virtue of Klasna's rousing victory the day before in the Laguna Seca Circuit Race. However, as he has all season, Horner attacked hard and left his competitors in his wake, finishing a full 1:25 clear of second-placed rider, Mike Jones (HealthNet presented by Maxxis). Horner's margin of victory was enough for him to overtake Klasna in the standings and give the Webcor Builders the victory.

March, 2004 -- Horner successfully defends Redlands title
REDLANDS, CA -- After winning the opening Mt. Rubidoux prologue and the first two road race stages, Chris Horner of Webcor Builders successfully defended his leader's jersey to take the overall title at the 2004 Redlands Classic.

March, 2004 -- Horner dominates at Pomona Valley Stage Race
POMONA, CA -- With riders from over 30 domestic teams present, Chris Horner won two of four stages to take the overall title at the Pomona Valley Stage Race.

Horner began his campaign by putting a minute over his closest rival in the 4.8 mile Glendora Chevrolet Mountain Time Trial. The following day's Incycle Puddingstone Road Race saw Horner bridge a gap on the final climb and outsprint Neiko Biskner (Ofoto) and Eric Wohlberg (Sierra Nevada) for the stage victory.

"We are extremely excited to have a rider of Chris' caliber and professionalism representing DMT and Upland Sports Group for the upcoming season," said Rob Carbone, VP Marketing for Upland Sports Group.

"I am excited to be wearing DMT shoes in 2004. The Ultimax RSX has a great reputation and they have lived up to it. Their stiffness and comfort is the best I've experienced. I can't wait until the first big race of the season," said Horner.
